Position Description:

We are seeking an experienced Automation Electrician to support the build, integration, and commissioning of custom automation solutions. This hands-on role focuses on control panel assembly, machine wiring, and electrical debug for special machinery serving commercial, industrial, and automation industries. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a custom-machine environment and collaborating closely with design engineers to bring complex systems to life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Control Panel Build & Electrical Assembly
  • Build, wire, and label electrical control panels per electrical schematics and layouts.
  • Install PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, safety components, power distribution, and control devices.
  • Verify panel builds meet applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and company specifications.
  • Machine Wiring & Integration
  • Perform complete machine wiring for custom automation equipment including sensors, motors, actuators, valves, and safety circuits.
  • Route, secure, and terminate wiring with a focus on reliability, cleanliness, and serviceability.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and automation teams during machine assembly and integration.
  • Debug, Startup & Commissioning Support
  • Support electrical checkout, I/O verification, and system debug alongside automation engineers.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and communication issues during machine startup.
  • Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), customer run-offs, and on-site commissioning when required.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Work closely with engineering, project management, and shop personnel to meet project schedules.
  • Provide input on electrical design improvements and standardization efforts.
  • Help maintain and improve electrical build and wiring best practices.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as an Automation Electrician or Industrial Electrician in custom automation or special machinery environments.
  • Strong experience with control panel building and machine wiring for automated equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC-based control systems, safety circuits, VFDs, servo systems, and industrial networks.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 79, NEC, UL 508A, and industrial electrical standards (certification a plus).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with attention to detail and quality.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for installation and startup support.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
